The third component of the Trifecta Facelift is treating the facial and neck skin with RENUVION Helium RF Plasma. This deep resurfacing technology resets the facial skin by eliminating years of lines, aging and sun damage. Furthermore, it tightens the deepest layers of the skin. Dr. Lacerna utilizes Renuvion, a minimally invasive procedure that can resurface the skin to minimize these imperfections. Renuvion is the only device that is FDA cleared both for resurfacing the skin on the face (with lighter skin tones [Fitzpatrick 1-3]) and for tightening the skin below the chin and on the neck through a subdermal application.

Renuvion combines the energy from radiofrequency (RF) applied to helium gas, producing a “cool beam” plasma for ablative resurfacing of the skin on the face. This is effective enough to be performed as a standalone procedure but gentle enough to be done concurrently with a facelift and fat grafting.

As an alternative, NEOGEN Nitrogen plasma resurfacing can also be performed for darker skin types, or for those who prefer less downtime or as a non-surgical alternative.

What To Expect from Skin Resurfacing

Renuvion facial skin resurfacing is a deep ablative procedure and therefore requires downtime of about two weeks for maximal recovery. During this time, it is important that patients follow up with Dr. Lacerna and her staff with every-other-day visits for the first two weeks, in order for her and her team to monitor the patient’s healing progress closely.

The results that can be achieved with Renuvion Skin Resurfacing of the face are superior to other ablative procedures such as C02 lasers and deep chemical peels such as phenol peels. One advantage of this procedure over phenol peels is that there is no associated risk of cardiac arrhythmias during the procedure. In addition, Renuvion Skin Resurfacing does not fully ablate the skin’s pigmentation, unlike the hypopigmentation often seen after C02 laser procedures. In addition, there is more deeper skin tightening achieved with Renuvion resurfacing because the device is coupled to the patient’s body, forming a dual flow of gentle energy that produces both superficial and deep skin tightening, as opposed to C02 laser’s unidirectional, surface only interface with the patient’s skin.

Patients typically find that their skin remains smooth, with a healthy glow and a more even skin tone for about two to five years following treatment. This is often a “one-and-done” procedure, but maintenance of skin health with sunscreen and a good skin care regimen will further extend the results.

The addition of EXOSOMES both topically and intradermally during PLASMA SKIN RESURFACING procedures has truly hastened and improved our patient’s healing time, minimized post-recovery discomfort, and enhanced long term effects and skin quality for our patients.
